Benefits of Responsible Forest Management

Marketplace Education on The Benefits of Responsible Forest Management

In 2017, GreenBlue was awarded a grant from the Sustainable Forestry Initiative to develop a campaign to educate brands about the benefits of responsible forest management. With this grant, GreenBlue (the parent nonprofit of the Forest Products Working Group) will develop a 4-part webinar series and educational campaign to enable brands to better communicate the benefits of responsible forest management to their customers.

The goal of this project is to educate brand owners that buying products derived from responsibly managed forests, in fact, has extraordinary environmental benefits and is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate a company’s commitment to sustainability. Buying from responsibly-managed forests means supporting forest owners, large and small, and are enhancing biodiversity, creating clean air and water, supporting renewable resources, and reducing impacts of climate change.

Utilizing multiple data sources including the SFI annual report and conservation outcomes, GreenBlue and its project partner, Sappi North American, designed and executed a communications campaign to: 1) educate brands about the benefits of responsible forest management; and, 2) enable brands to better communicate to customers, through storytelling, how these benefits support their sustainability goals.
