GreenBlue is pleased to announce that Olivia Vermooten has joined the team as an Events Associate. Olivia has a Bachelor of Business Administration in Hotel and Resort Management from Les Roches Global Hospitality Education.

What inspired you to work in the sustainability field?

After working in luxury hotels and resorts across the world, I recognized the detrimental effect of overconsumption, lack of attention to waste management and business activity based on a linear, instead of a circular economy. I wanted to go further than simply implementing personal lifestyle changes to accommodate the needs of our planet, so I decided to engage professionally with an organization that encourages establishing, building and maintaining stakeholder engagement through a sustainable platform.

What do you hope to achieve at GreenBlue?

I hope to contribute to the influential work being done here with our Sustainable Packaging Coalition events team. I see potential in our industry to educate event planners, sponsors and attendees to engage in responsible event management while increasing networking opportunities for our stakeholders. This division of GreenBlue has grown exponentially over the past few years and I look forward to being part of this continued growth going forward.

Favorite place that you have visited so far?

It is a tie between Cape Town, South Africa and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico! I have lived in both locations and between the food, culture and music, it is difficult for me to choose between the two.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

In my spare time I enjoy being outdoors and I love hot weather! I really enjoy cooking and trying new (sometimes strange) foods. I also enjoy listening to music from around the world, particularly Latin music.
