Welcome: Julianna Nienart

GreenBlue is pleased to announce Julianna Nienart has joined the team as a How2Recycle Project Associate with the Sustainable Packaging Coalition.

What inspired you to work in the sustainability field?

My family farm has a long working relationship with a local nonprofit where our business received orchard hay for our animals in exchange for composted manure and other assistance for their community garden. This is a mutual benefit economy and the arrangement created a local supply chain rooted in renewable resources. My family’s work with the local community shaped my perspectives as an adult and inspired me to think about the idea of economic circularity in empowering communities toward sustainable practices.

What do you hope to achieve at GreenBlue?

I hope to assist How2Recycle in supporting stakeholders across the supply chain through education, partnerships, and research to achieve an increase in the reducing, reusing, and recycling of materials. I’m excited to further my learning on the interconnectivity between business practices, product design,  human behavior, and how it can drive sustainability.

What do you do in your spare time?

I love spending my time exploring new places or trying new things! I currently live in Brooklyn, so there is always a new park, museum, concert, or restaurant to enjoy. When I visit my home in New Jersey, I always make time for a long hike or kayaking trip. Oh, and I LOVE tacos.

Happiness is…

Whether it’s walking through a city park, lounging on a beach, hiking through a forest, or floating down a river – any moment surrounded by friends while enjoying the outdoors is a moment of joyfulness to me.
