First ever conference and training session will be held in Washington, D.C.
CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA, FEBRUARY 9, 2017 — The Sustainable Packaging Coalition has announced that it will host the first ever SPC Bioplastics Converge this summer at the Westin Georgetown Hotel in Washington, D.C. This event will combine a half-day training session led by experts in the bioplastics field, exhibit halls with leading bioplastic suppliers showcasing their products, and a full day summit with engaging speakers.
“Bioplastics continue to grow as a technology and as materials that can directly contribute to meeting corporate sustainability goals, whether used in packaging or products. By designing this forum around education and collaboration across the different industries that are interested in incorporating bioplastics into their products and packaging, attendees will walk away with insights, knowledge and a thorough view of the current and forthcoming advancements in bioplastics technologies” said Barbara Fowler, Senior Manager, Sustainable Packaging Coalition.
This conference is designed to inspire action and drive solutions by connecting sustainability professionals with diverse perspectives in an open, collaborative environment. Attendees will represent a diverse array of backgrounds including sales, marketing, packaging engineering, corporate & social responsibility, R&D, sustainability, and many more.
Exhibitors that have already signed onto the event include NatureWorks, Braskem, Solegear Bioplastics, Futamura, BiologiQ, Danimer Scientific, and Organic Waste Systems (OWS), with more to be announced.
“To my knowledge, there is not another event in North America that will bring together all stakeholders solely focused on bio-materials for packaging,” said Chris Mitchell, Commercial Vice President-Americas, Futamura. “ SPC Bioplastics Converge is much needed and will be a great venue to showcase the latest in sustainable products, applications, and collaborations.”
This event is open to the public and SPC members receive a special discount on ticket prices. Thanks to our event marketing partners, bioplastics MAGAZINE, and USDA BioPreferred.
